SET THE SCENE IN

Babb

Babb

Babb sits along the St. Mary River on the Blackfeet Reservation, where prairie grasslands, broad valleys and Glacier National Park’s sharply defined peaks meet at the northern edge of Montana. Babb is defined by the landscapes around it, with homes, lodging and local businesses dispersed throughout the area. The community serves as a gateway to both the Many Glacier and St. Mary regions, with unobstructed sightlines toward some of the park’s most recognizable mountain landscapes.

Chief Mountain dominates the skyline north of town, rising abruptly from the surrounding plains and creating one of the region’s most distinctive natural landmarks. Nearby, Duck Lake and Lower St. Mary Lake add broad water settings, while Chief Mountain Highway winds toward the Canadian border and Waterton Lakes National Park through rolling terrain and mountain vistas.

The community follows a seasonal rhythm, with visitors filling roads, campgrounds and local businesses throughout the summer before activity quiets considerably in winter. Chewing Black Bones Campground features tipis set against mountain backdrops and wide stretches of prairie, while the unmistakable purple exterior of Two Sisters Café—with “Aliens Welcome” painted across the roof—adds a distinctive roadside landmark to the area’s visual character.
