TEMPORARY AIRPORT CLOSURES IN SEPTEMBER 2025 and JULY 2026

The Missoula Montana Airport (MSO) will be closed at 8 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2025, until 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025, for runway resurfacing. Airline schedules have been updated to reflect the temporary closure.

The Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, Montana, will have limited days of service each week in July 2026 due to runway resurfacing. The temporary interruption in service may include limited or no flight availability on certain days and increased pricing that is not reflective of normal schedules and pricing. This closure will take place from July 6 to July 31, 2026, with the area closed weekly from Mondays at 6 p.m. through Fridays at noon. Airlines will reflect the temporary closure on their booking platforms.

Travelers should keep in mind that Missoula Montana Airport (MSO) and Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) are less than 2.5 hours from each other by car, so the Western Montana area will remain readily accessible to visitors. Consider incorporating an alternate airport into your travel plans and turn the drive into part of the experience—an opportunity to explore the scenic routes and charming small towns that connect these two regional gateways.

Traveling to set locations in Western Montana is easier than you might think. With two airports—Missoula (MSO) and Glacier Park International (FCA)—train service (Amtrak's Empire Builder), car rentals and a well-maintained highway system, it’s pretty simple.

Whether you're arriving by plane, train or automobile, getting here is easy, and it's also pretty simple to map your route between set locations once you’ve arrived. Interstate 90 runs east and west anchoring the region, and U.S. Highway 93 runs north and south. Western Montana’s larger communities have ride sharing services and shuttles. Getting off the beaten path into more remote locations is also easily accommodated.
