Elmo
Elmo sits on the western shore of Flathead Lake at the northern edge of Big Arm Bay, with wide-open views across the lake toward the foothills of the Mission Mountains. Located on the Flathead Reservation along U.S. Highway 93, the small community is primarily residential, with long sightlines across the water toward Wild Horse Island.
Chief Cliff rises approximately 150 feet above the lakeshore just north of town, forming one of the area's most recognizable natural landmarks. The prominent rock face overlooks Flathead Lake and creates a striking backdrop visible from both the shoreline and the highway.
The Elmo Powwow Grounds serve as an important cultural gathering place on the reservation, with open grounds framed by mountain and lake views. Together with the surrounding shoreline and lightly developed landscape, they offer a setting that blends cultural significance with the natural character of Flathead Lake.
