Greenough

Greenough

Greenough delivers a mix of forested terrain, river corridors and open benches that capture the quiet character of Western Montana’s Blackfoot Valley. Wildlife is commonly visible throughout the area, adding natural movement to both open and wooded settings. The area combines working agricultural landscapes with high-end guest ranches, offering a wide range of looks within a compact radius.

Garnet Ghost Town provides a preserved mining village with abandoned, intact structures from the 1890s to early 1900s. Its remote access—via an 11-mile dirt road—adds to its authenticity. In winter, the road often closes to vehicles, so access shifts to skis or snowmobiles.

Just off Highway 200, the Lubrecht Experimental Forest offers miles of wooded trails, research buildings and shifting light through dense groves of larch and fir.

Along Highway 200, Harper’s Lake and Blanchard Lake offer calm water, simple shorelines and adjoining campgrounds with a lived-in feel. The giant brown-and-white cow at Clearwater Junction—where Highways 200 and 83 meet—adds a quirky, unmistakable landmark to the landscape.
