Polson, Montana, sits in a gorgeous natural amphitheater at the southern tip of Flathead Lake—the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi—on the Flathead Indian Reservation. Surrounded by stunning Mission Mountain views and rugged, snowcapped peaks, Flathead Lake is lined with Flathead cherry orchards—with gorgeous cherry blossoms in full bloom each spring. The Flathead River flows through town, featuring the Seli’š Ksanka Qlispe’ hydroelectric dam, which boasts beautiful canyon views.
Polson serves as the county seat for Lake County and features a historic county courthouse and downtown area. You’ll also find Polson Bay Golf Course with lake and mountain views, a tribally owned casino, a public-use airport, and close proximity to Salish Kootenai College as well as the towns of Kalispell and Missoula.
Polson’s Miracle of America Museum showcases a vast array of historical exhibits spanning human history, from primitive tools to space exploration. Highlights include a collection of over 30 military vehicles, two jets, four aircraft and more than 70 vintage motorcycles dating back to a 1912 Harley Davidson. The museum also features a village with over 40 thematic structures including a historical schoolhouse.
With its ideal location just 90 minutes from Glacier National Park, and access to public lands—including several lakeside city parks and Finley Point state park—Polson is picture perfect.
